There are a range of tasks that volunteers can assist with within Allied Health from administration assistance, to being involved in different Diversional Therapy Programs, collating data for special projects and assisting in exercise programs.

Cancer Services

Bezzina House

Bezzina House is a purpose-built lodge within proximity to the hospital. It provides a comfortable, low cost, home-away-from-home accommodation for cancer patients and their carer’s undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Our volunteers provide a friendly face to its residents and assist with the general up-keep or day to day tasks associated with the smooth running of this facility.

Cancer Care Centre

The volunteers for Cancer Care are there to guide you throughout the centre, from checking- in to sitting with you and conversing.

Emergency Department

Our volunteers make a significant impact in this busy location. They greet and comfort unaccompanied patients or assist visitors find their way through the department. They are a calming presence to those waiting by offering conversation as well as helping out in the Emergency Department with whatever is needed.

Aged Care Precinct

The volunteer’s help deliver in a diversional therapy program for the aged care wards. This can include reading, playing games, playing music, or providing conversation.

Outpatient Areas

There are a variety of administrative tasks that volunteers assist with in our outpatient areas including collating information packs, filing, re-stocking shelves and running errands. A very valuable role and great for those people wanting to up-skill into a medical administration role.

Inpatient Areas

Some patients may feel isolated or missing family and friends. Our volunteers can become patient companions and visit on a regular basis. Assisting the administration Officer for the ward is also welcome by running errands or answering phones.

Patient Book Give-away

We have a variety of books that have been donated. A volunteer maintains the library and delivers books to the patients with a smile and a chat.

Wayfinding Program

With on-going re-developments, it is sometimes intimidating to find where you need to go within the hospital. Our wayfinding volunteers are located at the main entrances and the Information Booth. They provide a welcome relief to get you to your appointment on time or help find your friend or relative.

Clinical Skills

Looking for something different? Volunteers are needed at specific times throughout the year to play-act as patients for training of our future medical staff.
