For more than a century, the Royal Hospital for Women (RHW) has provided specialist health care in partnership with women. The RHW was not only the first women’s hospital in Australia, but also the country’s first lying-in hospital and is still the only women’s hospital in New South Wales.
Throughout the years the Royal has earned an outstanding national and international reputation for health care excellence. As a tertiary referral hospital the RHW is a leading research and teaching hospital in the field of women’s health.
Most importantly the RHW combines medical excellence with a warm and caring atmosphere.
VISION OF RHW
To provide women, their babies and their families with excellent care in a responsive collaborative environment that promotes best practice, teaching, research and staff.
AIMS OF RHW
As the only women’s hospital in NSW we aim to :
- provide leadership in the provision of care for women and babies;
- improve further our national and international recognition for contributions to women’s and babies’ health;
- provide excellent undergraduate and postgraduate education for nurses, midwives, medical students and trainee specialists in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Neonatology;
- conduct high quality peer-reviewed research in women’s and babies’ health.
