Visiting Hours

Family, friends and carers are welcome to visit you during your stay in hospital, we understand that they are an important part of your wellbeing and support network.

The Royal Hospital for Women is a specialty hospital and as such some wards may have prearranged visiting hours, but please be reassured that these have been developed to help you rest and receive your clinical care and treatment.

We appreciate that sometimes you may need to be with your family or friends outside visiting hours, if so, please speak to the Nurse/Midwife Unit Manager or Nurse/Midwife In-Charge of the shift.

To help keep you safe and prevent the spread of infection, we ask that people who are unwell do not visit the hospital.

Open to visitors: 8.00am–1.00pm and 3.00pm–8.00pm.

No visiting in rest time 1.00pm–3.00pm.

Choosing the right birth partner/s is essential to ensure you receive the best emotional and practical support during labour and birth.

Continuous, comforting and encouraging support will help your labour to progress and help you to feel safe. Alternately sometimes too many people in the birthing suite can distract you and even slow your labour.

We encourage you to talk with your midwife or Obstetrician about your birth team.
