We provide thorough consultation, assessment and treatment plans for women who experience gynaecological-related chronic pain. We try to identify the cause(s) of your pain and consider all treatment options to suit your needs, including but not restricted to, medical/surgical intervention or a combination of both. Our main aim is to support patients with self-management strategies to help with their pain and improve quality of life. We use a multidisciplinary approach to care with allied health involvement within the service.
Consumers are afforded non-biased access to the service irrespective of demographics, sexual orientation, or identity, or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status.
All patients attending the Royal Pain Service require a valid GP referral before we can book you an appointment.
Please note that we only accept electronic referrals (eReferrals). This is an electronic referral that is submitted on your behalf by your GP. This replaces paper, faxed and e-mailed referrals. We do not accept faxed, e-mailed or paper referrals.
Once we have received your referral from your GP through our eReferrals system, the nursing team and/or medical team will triage your referral to ensure you will be seen in the appropriate clinic. Referrals to the Chronic Pain Service clinic requires patient completion of a questionnaire returned to: NSWH-cppservice@health.nsw.gov.au in addition to a GP or specialist referral before an appointment can be made. Suitability to the chronic pain clinic or MDT pain assessment clinic will be based on referral content provided and questionnaire responses.
A letter with your appointment date and time will be sent to your postal address. This booking process may take 7-10 working days to complete.
You will receive a SMS notification(if your GP consents for you to receive these updates in your referral) once the referral has been received, accepted by our clinic and triaged by the nurses.
Please allow 2-3 weeks for your appointment letter to arrive from when we have received your referral. If it has been over 3 weeks and you have not received your appointment letter, please call (02) 9382 6248.
