Our Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Strategy 2024-2026 provides direction and actions to support our teams to thrive, a key strategic priority within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District’s Strategic Plan – Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives 2022-2025.

The Strategy is motivated by actions where everyone’s diverse talents, experiences and skills can drive innovation and collaboration to deliver the best possible outcome for our patients and communities.

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives Strategic Plan 2022-25

Image removed.Exceptional Care, Healthier Lives 2022-25 outlines our strategy to deliver exceptional person-centred care closer to home. This plan looks towards the future of healthcare and how we can best meet the current and emerging needs of the communities we serve.

We partnered with staff, consumers and communities to define our strategic priorities and focus areas. The plan includes four priorities: partnering for healthier communities, providing person-centred care, supporting teams to thrive and shaping the future. These priorities are underpinned by the following foundational elements: connected people, technology, data and insights and places..

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) Health Care Services Plan 2023-2033

The SESLHD Health Care Services Plan 2023-2033 provides the strategic direction for developing services across SESLHD.

The Health Care Services Plan considers opportunities to deliver collaborative, coordinated services that respond to the needs of our communities and the voices of our consumers. The plan was developed through a process of extensive consultation through clinical stream working groups and sub-working groups, staff surveys, partners, and community members.

St George Integrated Health Services Plan 2018

The St George Integrated Health Services Plan outlines our aspirations for the delivery of health care to the residents of the St George area and beyond. The proposed service development outlined in this plan aims to reduce the demand for acute and emergency services and improve efficiencies in whole of hospital flow, length of stay and most importantly, improve the patient experience and health and wellbeing outcomes. Models of care and capital requirements to support the most effective use of available and future resources are also outlined in the Plan.

Greater Randwick Integrated Health Services Plan (including the Prince of Wales Hospital)

The Greater Randwick Integrated Health Services Plan has been produced in response to a funding announcement by the NSW Minister for Health to redevelop the Randwick Hospitals’ Campus. The Campus forms part of a specialised health and academic health sciences precinct which includes the University of New South Wales Kensington Campus, and the immediate surrounding areas. This Plan considers all services delivered by the Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services, Royal Hospital for Women and Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service. Services currently delivered within the community setting as well as services delivered by other facilities within and external SESLHD are also considered. New primary and community health and specialist services that need to be delivered due to anticipated future population need are also outlined.

Sutherland Integrated Health Services Plan

The Sutherland Integrated Health Services Plan 2019 outlines our aspirations for the future delivery of health care to residents of the Sutherland Shire and beyond. It outlines the changing health needs of the population, emerging health trends, and national and international best practice models of care. It also projects future health service and infrastructure requirements to support people to stay healthy for as long as possible and provide timely and appropriate care when needed.

The Royal Hospital for Women Integrated Health Services Plan 

The Royal Hospital for Women Integrated Health Services Plan 2019 delivers on The Royal’s role as the state-wide leader in developing, supporting and embedding a gender-sensitive approach in the development of clinical care, research, education and training in women’s and newborn health care. To meet the health needs of the women of NSW, we will continue to develop partnerships and people, and seek redevelopment of the infrastructure required to deliver contemporary models of care. The Plan defines The Royal’s role in delivering on NSW Health’s First 2000 Days of Life Framework, from pre-conception through to the postnatal stage.

The Mental Health Clinical Services Plan to 2022 

The Mental Health Clinical Services Plan to 2022 presents an outline of current services and strategic priorities for the Mental Health Service. The Plan identifies the scope and breadth of the community and those who currently, or in the future, need to access mental health services. An overview of the Mental Health Service is provided and reflects the diversity and complexity of clinical need.

The Plan has been developed through a comprehensive, structured process and is linked directly to the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards Second Edition, and the National Standards for Mental Health Services (2010).

Healthy Mob, Strong Community Aboriginal Health Plan 2024-2026

Healthy Mob, Strong Community was co-designed with Aboriginal community members through community consultation and the SESLHD Aboriginal Health Directorate. The plan recognises the history that continues to have an impact on health outcomes for Aboriginal people and commits SESLHD to six strategic directions including, Community Informed Decision making, Equity and access, Working in Partnership, Aboriginal Workforce, Cultural Safety and Data Sovereignty and Governance 

The Aboriginal Health Plan 2024-2026 supports the visions of SESLHD of being a safe and trusted partner, where Aboriginal community and staff feel safe, respected, and empowered.

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District HIV and Sexual Health Strategy 2019-2024

SESLHD has been the centre of the HIV and STI epidemics for decades and our specialist services has long been recognised as centres of excellence for health promotion, prevention and care.

The SESLHD HIV and Sexual Health Strategy 2019-2024 has been developed to provide an overarching framework and model of care for HIV and sexual health service provision; and development over the next five years.

Two additional documents that accompany the Strategy reflect the thorough consultation undertaken that includes input and feedback from staff in SESLHD Publicly Funded Sexual Health Services and key partner agencies; and an in-depth consumer participation process.

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Carers Strategy 2019-2022

The South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Carers Strategy 2019-2022 is our Local Health District's response to the NSW Health Recognition and Support for Carers : Key Directions 2018-2020. It sets out SESLHD's responsibility to:

  • inform and guide its employees to recognise and support carers;
  • value and engage with carers as partners in care and;
  • support employees who have caring responsibilities.

Through consultation with staff, community service providers and the SESLHD Carer Consultants we heard stories about the diverse lived experiences and challenges faced when accessing health services. This has informed the Strategy's four domains of action which will guide health care providers in meeting their responsibilities to carers and improving how we work with carers and family members who provide care in our Local Health District.

SESLHD Environmental Sustainability Plan

Good health and the environment are closely linked. Delivering clinical care requires a lot of resources which can impact the environment, so SESLHD is making environmental sustainability part of delivering healthcare.

Our approach is to embed environmental sustainability considerations into the way we deliver care, the resources we use and the infrastructure we deliver it in. Our focus is to create a strong foundation with actionable plans that our staff, patients and the broader community can be involved and contribute to - we encourage you to get involved.

The SESLHD Environmental Sustainability Plan has three foundations Sustainable Clinical Services, Resource Efficiency and Resilient Facilities. Aligning with these are seven focus areas have been selected as they will generate immediate and lasting impact and reflect the views of staff and consumers garnered through extensive consultation. South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Cancer Clinical Services Plan 2019 – 2022

The Cancer Clinical Services Plan 2019 – 2022 outlines our aspirations, priorities and proposed actions to address this important health priority over the next four years. It reflects the strategic context of the SESLHD Journey to Excellence Strategy 2018-2021 and the NSW Cancer Plan. It was informed by our knowledge of the impact of cancer experienced by our patients, their families and carers and by our clinicians' contemporary thinking on models of cancer care. The Plan focuses on person-centred, safe and compassionate models of care, making better use of our resources in cancer care to improve outcomes across the community. It also acknowledges that within SESLHD there are people or communities with higher risk of cancers, experiencing poorer cancer-related health outcomes, who require focus.

Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services Plan 2017-2027

The Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services Plan 2017 -2027 details the approach SESLHD will take to over the next 5 to 10 years to enhance our responses to substance use, and how it affects clients, their communities and our services.

The plan identifies three broad themes: (a) enhancing the quality and access to specialist D&A treatment services for people with substance use problems, (b) enhancing the capacity of all of SESLHD’s hospital and community based services to better address substance use issues in their patients, and (c) continuing to improve our Drug and Alcohol Services through better consumer and carer engagement, workforce development, research and evaluation, and enhanced clinical information systems. 

A clear case for change is presented. Actions, partners and timeframes to address our priorities are included.

SESLHD Aged Care Clinical Services Plan 2019-2021

The Aged Care Clinical Services Plan 2019-2021 outlines the key priorities and actions for Aged Care Services over the next three years. The Plan is aligned with the strategic priorities of the SESLHD Journey to Excellence Strategy 2018-2021 and relevant state and national policies, and follows on from the achievements of the Aged Care Clinical Services Plan 2015-2018.

The Plan focuses on supporting older people to access the right services, at the right time, in the most appropriate setting. It identifies opportunities for improvement in line with new and emerging best practice models and approaches to care delivery. This includes shifting the balance of care towards more community and home based services whenever possible. A continuous system improvement approach will ensure that best practice is shared among our facilities, services and beyond.

Advancing Surgical Services - SESLHD Surgical, Anaesthetic and Perioperative Services Clinical Services Plan 2018-2021

The Advancing Surgical Services - SESLHD Surgical, Anaesthetic, Perioperative Services Clinical Services Plan, 2018- 2021 provides strategic directions for the surgical, perioperative and anaesthetic services delivered by the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).

 

The Plan is aligned with the SESLHD Journey to Excellence 2018-2021 and follows on from the work achieved in the Surgical, Anaesthetic and Perioperative Services Clinical Services Plan 2013-2018.

The plan identifies key projects, emphasising:

  • Improving and enhancing surgical services
  • Optimising patient care
  • Fostering safety, and
  • Continuing to focus on equity.
