Allied Health Professions Day and Allied Health Awards

Last week SESLHD celebrated Allied Health Professions Day and the 2024 SESLHD Allied Health Awards. The week was a fantastic time to pause and reflect on all the amazing work that our Allied Health workforce does to help our patients and clients receive timely access to safe and quality healthcare.

The theme of this year’s Allied Health Professions Day was ‘Stronger Together’, emphasising the importance of the multi-disciplinary team work that our Allied Health staff engage in on a daily basis, which sees them achieve the best outcome for our consumers.

There were several celebrations across the district for Allied Health Professions Day with many kind and heartfelt words shared with our staff about the impact of the work they do. We hope our staff were able to enjoy lots of delicious food and time together as they celebrated this special day.

At the Allied Health Awards, we recognised and celebrated our finalists and winners across eight different award categories. It was an exciting afternoon hearing the stories of our winners and finalists and how they have gone above and beyond in providing person centred care to both consumers and their teams.

We also heard an address from our guest speaker, Tamsin Colley, Paralympian and current Exercise Physiology student. She inspired all of us by sharing her journey and highlighting the important difference Allied Health can make to so many people’s lives.

All the award winners will be nominated for the Ministry of Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards. We look forward to seeing how their nominations progress and wish them all the best in the future careers!
