Let's get those sleeves rolled up!
With the cooler weather having arrived right on time, SESLHD has opened the doors to its District-wide drop-in staff influenza vaccination clinics.
Bright and early on Monday morning, staff at St George Hospital rolled up their sleeves and did their part to look after their health and those of their colleagues, patients and loved ones.
Among the first were twin sisters, Wendy and Narelle Chaseling (pictured) who arrived together to get their free flu shot.
Day one at St George Hospital was a busy one according to Georgina Mills, Clinical Nurse Consultant, SESLHD Staff Health Service.
“It is great to see so many staff members getting in early and getting vaccinated. The additional staff for the mass clinics has ensured a short wait time so our staff can essentially come in and out," said Georgina.
Georgina and her team are ready to greet staff with warm smiles and just enough distraction so that they won’t be able to feel a thing!
The influenza vaccine is FREE to people most at risk of severe illness including:
- Children six months to under five years
- Pregnant women
- All Aboriginal people from six months of age
- Seniors aged 65 and over
- People with significant underlying health conditions including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic lung, liver or kidney disease and immunocompromising conditions.
Members of the public can book their flu vaccine today with a doctor, local pharmacy or Aboriginal Medical Service (AMS) using the healthdirect online search tool.
