Operation Art brings colour to Sutherland Hospital

Sutherland Hospital was presented with 12 artworks created by NSW students to be hung permanently on the hospital walls at a handover recently.
 
At a morning tea event hosted by the Sutherland Hospital School, three of the student artists attended to donate their artworks in person, including Rima Zhany (Year 2, MLC School), Eden Blinkhorn (Year 3, Glenbrook Public School) and Rheanne Abuobeid (Year 10, Malek Fahd Islamic School).  
 
Operation Art is an initiative of the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in partnership with the Department of Education, and is generously sponsored by Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). It encourages NSW school students to find purpose behind their art making, and create artworks for sick children in hospital. 

Ms Valerie Jovanovic, General Manager, Sutherland Hospital said staff were touched by the support from the students.  

“These generously donated artworks will be displayed in clinical areas used by children who visit our hospital. They will help us to achieve our aim to try and make the hospital experience for a child and their family as comforting as possible, as the bright artwork on display will help create an uplifting environment,” Ms Jovanovic said.
