State-of-the-art facilities to bring together researchers and clinicians

It’s been a big year for Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH) with the opening of the new Acute Services Building.

Well it’s not over yet, with even more state-of-the-art facilities coming soon to the Randwick campus.

10 storeys of dedicated education and research spaces situated alongside the Acute Services Building will bring together researchers, clinicians and health experts, as part of a major partnership between SESLHD and UNSW.

The soon-to-open UNSW integrated spaces (known to POWH staff as the Eastern Extension) aim to advance patient care through the seamless integration of research and education. The spaces will house clinical prototyping, testing laboratories, research zones and more.

“POWH is fortunate to be part of a community of world-class education and healthcare, with clinical research and innovation happening right on our doorstep. As a key partner of the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct, we are so excited to be opening these new spaces in partnership with UNSW,” said Jennie Barry, POWH General Manager.

The new extension will benefit staff and patients at POWH by embedding research directly alongside acute clinical environments, leading to the development of new models of care and better health outcomes for the community.

“By working together, we will bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world healthcare delivery, nurturing a dynamic environment where knowledge, expertise, and compassion unite to elevate patient care and educate the next generation of healthcare leaders.”
