Stronger Together

The 2024 Consumers and Partners Showcase on Thursday 24 October shone a light on the highly successful work SESLHD does in collaboration with its partners and consumers.

SESLHD staff presentations at Sydney/Sydney Eye Hospital showed the ways we are doing this, ranging from supporting young people experiencing mental health challenges, to providing services to people experiencing domestic and family violence.

“Partnerships with consumers and carers play a crucial part in our health service,” said Natalie Tuffin, the Head of Planning and Partnerships at SESLHD.

Natalie spoke about the way SESLHD’S Mental Health Services Plan is being designed in partnership with people with lived experience; and how such collaboration with our partners and consumers was an integral part of constantly improving the way we care for our patients both in our hospitals and in our communities.

Amanda Bujaroski, a Senior Women and Children’s Social Worker at The Sutherland Hospital’s gave a particularly powerful presentation on the positive outcome for a woman and child experiencing domestic violence. Amanda’s presentation highlighted the district’s strong alliance with partners such as the Australian Red Cross and NSW Police.

Other presentations on the day included how  the district is strengthening our valued Aboriginal workforce, and the importance of social connection for older people.
