Our Community
The Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Services delivers a range of health, education and research services to the South East Sydney community and specialist services to people from across NSW.
It is part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District which delivers healthcare to around 930,000 residents across a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney’s central business district to the Royal National Park.
The district is home to a diverse population which is set to increase some 20% to over one million by 2027.
Our hospital is located in the Randwick local government area.
Approximately 3 - 5 % of our patients are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
Around 15% of our patients say they prefer a language other than English and 8% require an interpreter to speak with us.
Each year we care for more than 60,000 patients in our Emergency Department and around 50,000 patients are admitted to our Hospital. We also have busy community health and outpatient services and rural outreach service that provide more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year.
