How to find us

Prince of Wales Hospital is located on Barker Street and Botany Street, Randwick in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and is approximately 6km from Sydney CBD and 8km from the Domestic Airport. See Google Maps.

There are four reception areas where you can ask someone for directions:

• Randwick campus information counter at the Barker Street entrance which is open 8.00am to 8.30pm seven days a week
• Prince of Wales Hospital information counter at the High Street entrance which is open 8.00am to 8.30pm weekdays and 9.00am to 5.30pm on weekends
• Prince of Wales Hospital information counter at the Botany Street entrance which is open 8.00am to 8.00 pm weekdays and 9.00am to 5.30pm on weekends
• Emergency Department at the Magill Street entrance is open 24 hours a day.

We also have electronic information kiosks at both the Barker Street, High Street and Botany Street entrances.

Bus

Walking time to the Randwick Campus is approximately five minutes from bus stops on

• Northbound – Avoca, Barker and Belmore Roads
• Southbound – Arthur and Belmore Road

It is recommended you use the bus stops on Arthur, Belmore and Avoca Streets where possible due to the steep hill walking up from Barker St.

Light rail

The light rail service runs between Randwick and Circular Quay, via Central Station. The light rail platform at the Hospital is on the corner of High Street and Avoca Street. If you are going to the Acute Services Building, the closest stop is at the University of New South Wales on High Street. 

Our Hospital is located on Randwick Campus with a number of other hospitals and services.

Car parking can be accessed via the Barker Street entrance. Parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A private company, Point Parking, operates this service, fees apply.

Concessional car parking fees in NSW public hospitals

Concession parking rates are available for public hospital patients and their carers who require regular or long term hospitalisation and/or treatment. These rates do not apply for patients of Prince of Wales Private Hospital.

There is limited free parking for people with a mobility disability. The free parking is located at the High and Barker street entrances, near the Catherine Hayes Building and outside Emergency. The spaces show the international symbol of access for people with disability. You must have a mobility parking permit on your vehicle to be allowed to park in these spaces.

Mobility parking is also available on Level B1 of Point Parking. Concessional rates apply.

There are five entrances for patient pick up or drop off

• Barker Street for Adult Emergency Department, Outpatients, Medical Imaging and Dickinson Building
• High Street for Patient Discharge Lounge, Eye Clinic, Parkes Building and Clinical Sciences Building 
• Botany Street for the new Acute Services Building
• Avoca Street for Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre located at the Bright Alliance Building.

Taxi's are available at the taxi rank at the Barker Street entrance near the Royal Hospital for Women, or in Clara Street, located opposite the hospital’s High Street entrance. A dedicated taxi telephone is located near the information counters at each entrance. To book a taxi phone:

Community transport is available to the frail aged, younger people with a disability and/or their carers and people who are financially disadvantaged.

Access Sydney provides services for people who are elderly, frail, or have an illness or disability that makes ordinary transport difficult. For residents living in the City of Sydney and Botany local government areas.

If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person over the age of 50 and need help getting to your medical appointments, you can access these transport services:

If you are recieving cancer treatment at our Hospital you can use these transport services:

• Prince of Wales Oncology Bus and Nelune Foundation - speak with administration staff at your cancer service or phone 9382 5111

IPTAAS provides financial assistance to help with travel and accommodation costs for people (and eligible escorts) who need to travel long distances to access specialist treatment not available locally. Patients travelling at least 100km each way, or at least 200km per week cumulative distance, may be eligible to apply for IPTAAS subsidies. IPTAAS provides financial help with the cost of travel using private vehicles, public transport, air travel and accomodation. Your doctor or the hospital Social Workers can help if you wish to apply for this assistance. For more information you can also call the IPTAAS office on 1800 478 227.
