South Eastern Sydney Psychiatry Training Network

South Eastern Sydney Psychiatry Training Network is the largest psychiatry training network in New South Wales. We provide a complete Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) accredited program from Basic through to Proficient and completion of Advanced Training.

Trainees rotate through mandatory terms in adult, child and adolescent and consultation-liaison psychiatry and have a choice of a broad range of additional placements including subspecialties as diverse as Old Age Psychiatry, Youth and Early Intervention, Forensic Psychiatry, Emergency Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Private Hospitals, Peri-Natal Psychiatry and Intellectual Disability Mental Health.

There are internationally respected professorial units to which trainees can be allocated, with specific terms available at the Black Dog Institute (mood disorders), the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression or CRUfAD (mood and anxiety disorders) and in Neuropsychiatry.

Trainees interested in rural training have the opportunity to live and train in Northern NSW. Northern NSW LHD is part of the South East Sydney Psychiatry Training Network, and offers both rural terms as well as a complete training program. This includes a diverse and growing range of experiences across all stages of psychiatry training, including mandatory terms and Advanced Training pathways. Training posts are situated across three sites - Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, and Lismore. Rural trainees are supported by the Rural Director of Training and team.
