Healthy Ageing Program

Our Healthy Ageing Program (HAP) provides affordable exercise classes to help older people and those with ongoing health issues.

Our land (AIM) and water (WAVES) exercise classes are run by qualified fitness instructors. The classes are suitable for most fitness levels. They aim to improve balance, strength, flexibility and endurance in a fun and supportive environment.

Our qualified staff also provide ongoing health coaching to support healthy lifestyle and help you manage your management of chronic disease.

Cost

$65 per term (9-11 weeks)

Times & Locations

Classes are held during school terms between Monday to Friday. They are held throughout the Eastern Suburbs including: Daceyville, Double Bay, Eastlakes, Malabar, Maroubra, Randwick, Watson’s Bay and Zetland.

AIM is a land exercise program to improve the health of older men and women. The program provides safe and enjoyable group exercise classes in many locations across the Eastern suburbs. The classes suit different ability levels to increase or maintain fitness, strength and balance.

Types of classes:

  • Aerobic classes
  • Gentle exercise
  • Balance
  • Chair exercises
  • Weights
  • Low impact aerobic
  • Thai Chi

WAVES gentle  exercise classes in water are designed for older men and women with conditions that affect mobility and flexibility.  The group classes are a fun and safe way to improve your health.  

The classes are at local heated pools or hydrotherapy pools.  Participants exercise at their own ability level and non-swimmers can join too.

Transport may be available between your home and the pool. Extra fees apply for this transport. Pool entry fees apply at some venues.

This is how most classes run:

  • A short warm up
  • 30 minutes of general exercise 
  • A short cool down
  • Stretch and floating

If you are a new client and would like to join a class please download, print and complete this registration form. If you answer yes to any of the screening questions on the registration form you need to as your local doctor (GP) to also complete this medical clearance form.
